About Bhigwan
Located on the backwaters of Ujani Dam (built in 1980 on the Bhima River), Bhigwan has become one of Maharashtra’s most important wetland ecosystems. Spread across 7,000+ hectares, this area attracts thousands of migratory birds every winter, earning it the nickname “Bharatpur of Maharashtra”.
Part of Bhigwan’s wetland has been recognized as an Important Bird Area (IBA – IN-MH-19) by BNHS & BirdLife International. Every year, flamingos and other birds travel here from as far as Europe, Russia, Mongolia, Siberia, and Africa, making Bhigwan a hotspot for birdwatchers and nature lovers.

FAQs
The prime season is November to March. Flamingos and other migratory birds start arriving in late November, with peak sightings in January–February.
This tour is suitable for ages 6 and above, including families, photographers, birders, students, and nature or astronomy enthusiasts. Children below 6 can join under parental supervision.
The fee includes accommodation, all meals, birding safaris, boat rides, grassland safari, stargazing sessions, guide charges, and local transport.
Personal expenses, camera charges (if any), extra meals or snacks not mentioned in the itinerary, and insurance are not included.
Comfortable clothing, sunscreen, sunglasses, binoculars (if available), camera, water bottle, and light jackets for evening stargazing.
Yes! Both wildlife and astronomy photography are encouraged. Guides will also give tips for astrophotography and bird photography.
The tour is a 2 Days / 1 Night program with birding, boating, grassland safari, and a night stargazing session.
All activities are guided by experienced wildlife and astronomy experts. Participants must follow safety instructions, especially during boat rides, grassland safari, and night trails.
Pickup is arranged from Pune (Swargate/Hadapsar). If you’re coming from outside Pune, please reach the meeting point on your own.
Activities may be adjusted or rescheduled in case of heavy rain, fog, or unsafe conditions. Refunds will follow the cancellation policy.
